Hey buddy, My sometimes insensible ramblings about anything, everything, and life. My life in particular.I am in the making of a poem of life or is life making a poet out of me...confused as I am, these are just my ramblings :)

Enjoy life NOW .. it has an expiration date!!!!!

THE SITUATION :

In Washington, DC, at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, this man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, approximately 2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After about 3 minutes, a middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on to meet his schedule.

About 4 minutes later:

The violinist received his first dollar. A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

At 6 minutes:

A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

At 10 minutes:

A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the whole time. This action was repeated by several other children, but every parent - without exception - forced their children to move on quickly.

At 45 minutes:

The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

After 1 hour:

He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed and no one applauded. There was no recognition at all.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before, Joshua Bell sold-out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100 each to sit and listen to him play the same music.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell, playing incognito in the D.C. Metro Station, was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities.

This experiment raised several questions:

*In a common-place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?

*If so, do we stop to appreciate it?

*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made . . ..

How many other things are we missing as we rush through life?

Enjoy life NOW .. it has an expiration date!!!!!

I read this article via a mail. While reading it I just thought what I would have done if I was in similar situation. Well, would have loved to listen to his music sitting by the pavement but one look at the watch and “whoosh, I am late for work!!!! Run, have several tickets to move, developments to do,documents and test cases to prepare. Would have looked back and thought what was I doing standing there, wasting my time?? ”

With these trains of thoughts would have sidled away to work and concentrated on work and more work. Home, office and back to home as soon as I work is over because next day I have office AGAIN. Why is it this way that increasingly its work that has started ruling our life. No matter how ill, not living, haven’t eaten still have to go for work. Was this in our plan when we started working in 1st place in ancient times? Nahh not at all…think we worked when we needed to, when we had time from enjoying life and needed food or get some other comfort, or whatever good it is and then work again.

The biggest factor then was enjoying. Now it is the opposite, we try to find enjoyment in our work!!! Why????? Because we have no time to spend what we have earned from our work. We have to just work and work and work, why……? So that we have lots of money to enjoy.

But do we anytime think how much of our valuable time (the peak years of our life) are getting wasted working and not enjoying. And when we have a lot of money in maybe our old age, will we be able to enjoy it all? We will be too old to even chew our own food and have half the delicacies in "no to be eaten list", to old and bed ridden to travel and see mother earth and its beauty all across Earth….

Life like a river

Ever wondered why do we do what we do...why do we take this path and not that and then that same very chosen path which we thought will take us to new heights , throws us into deepest dungeons.

How for a moment we think everything is charted out, planned and then next moment everything is just tossed right in front of us. Some people love the unpredictable, uncertainty ,yet some get scared of not knowing what lies in their future, "are they secure or not?"...The big question is does river always flow in a charted path or discovers the undiscovered? Go into areas, places unknown and establish its own kingdom. But what happens when it is bored of that same path too, wont it change its course.
Go by its own free will...and that's what is LIFE. Goes on and on in its own free will :)

My 1st Post

Well Hi,

Love to make diary entries but get no time anymore. Since I am anyway always in front of  the computer so thought why not make my computer as my diary, as well as bore everyone (whoever cares to read) with my ramblings.

So why am I writing on the net? Well in this growing world with increasing technology and our increasing romance with work I thought I'll be able to stay in touch with my friends in this way.....yuck that's bland....plain truth - I am bored of just writing all day in computer language ( java, abap) and need to write and use Human language more which I LOVE.

Though I also have other motives :) . Think I'll be better writing in this way ,sharing and getting feedback on improving my writeup :)

So my 1st question thrown to you- since I am new to this web page and havent discovered or bothered to discover can someone tell me simple ways of making my blog look nicer visually? I find it utterly ugly and bland :P
